Weekly Update – April 17, 2026

The first “normal” week in a while in terms of time spent and output…

Controller Support (Continued)

Full controller support implemented in:

  • Inventory, Abilities, Examine, Map, Options, and Select Cell panels
  • Hotbar (Hotbar slots, Quick Switch slots, Default Action buttons)

Controller support is now only missing for drag and drop.

Map Content Framework

For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on a framework for populating levels using the existing map configuration tools (no new code). Basically, it allows available room types to be placed based on the level, theme, graph pattern, graph location, size, and difficulty, thereby providing more control over populating the map. An interesting new capability of this framework is being able to adjust difficulty in different parts of the map.

New Content

Dozens of assets were created for the new map content framework, a combination of container objects and room types, not interesting enough to list here.

Next week, I’ll further define where room types are placed on level 1 using the new framework, and add drag and drop controller support. I’m working toward making level 1 feel more distinct and less random as you move across the map. Then, I’ll start working on level 2.
